End of Year Update |
Dear Resident, This has been a busy year for Hertfordshire Constabulary, welcoming new Chief Constable Andy Prophet in January with his range of new ideas about how to better catch criminals, solve crime and protect the public. The Constabulary has also embraced the new Home Office Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee so that residents have a named local officer, scheduled events visible on websites, and other checks in place. Please visit Police UK or Local Areas for more information. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Teams have never been busier being out and about in their local areas, but a regular complaint is that residents never see their officers. Officers regularly send Herts Connected messages and invitations to relevant areas – so far in December 63 messages have been sent across Three Rivers. Officers can’t be everywhere all the time, but you can meet with them or contact them easily through the ‘reply’ option on messages to let them know about any issues you may have. Please remember that to report crime you need to ring 999 in an emergency, ring 101 otherwise or use the online reporting option here. There are also non-uniform officers and unmarked cars regularly patrolling across the county at all times of day and night. You can also feed into the local priority setting which happens again in January, so that your voice can be heard. 📋 At the bottom of this message is a link or you can search online for Herts Connected Priority Survey. We know you regularly get asked to complete surveys, but it’s the best way to find out what matters to you. Another occasional complaint is that you receive too many messages – please visit your account, which can be accessed from the ‘Update Preferences’ button at the bottom of this message, and check which Information Providers you want to hear from and select which message types you want to receive. Preventing crime is something you can help with Gift ideas: 🎁Get yourself, friends or members of your family a dusk to dawn light or timer device. 🎁Keep your belongings safe – don’t leave items in your vehicle, make sure you lock it, and perhaps ask for a steering wheel or crook lock device and keyless car device safety bag for presents. Please find time to attend one of the really useful Cyber Crime talks which are held in libraries around the county – you are guaranteed to learn something to help you stay safer online. Hacking of social media or emails, fake items for sale, counterfeit money being used to buy items you’re selling, password protections, telephone scams and more ways to part you from your money are more prevalent than burglaries. “Report Fraud” has replaced Action Fraud, and the website has lots of helpful advice and ways to report online frauds. Please find time to have a look here for useful information to keep yourself safer.
Please let us know about any issues in your area through the Priority Survey here:
Wishing you a peaceful & safe Christmas and New Year From The Community Engagement Team, Hertfordshire Constabulary. | ||
